Motherwell Ace Hoping to Banish Painful Hampden Memories with Rangers and Hearts as Team-Mate Deemed Top Talent

Motherwell star Kevin van Veen is determined to put his Hampden hoodoo behind him when he takes on Rangers and Hearts in the upcoming Scottish Cup semi-finals.

The Dutchman has endured a torrid time at the national stadium, having lost both the Scottish Cup and League Cup finals there with previous club Ross County.

Van Veen is hoping to banish those memories when he leads Motherwell out against Rangers in the last four on April 16.

The 31-year-old striker has been in fine form for the Steelmen this season, scoring 15 goals in all competitions.

He will be looking to add to that tally against Rangers, who are the holders of the Scottish Cup.

If Motherwell can overcome Rangers, they will face Hearts in the final on May 21.

The Jambos are also in good form, having won the Scottish Cup in 2020.

Van Veen is confident that Motherwell can cause an upset against either Rangers or Hearts.

"I'm really looking forward to the semi-final," he said.

"We're going to go there and give it our all.

"We know it will be a tough game, but we're confident that we can get the win."

Van Veen's team-mate Bevis Mugabi has also been in impressive form this season.

The Ugandan defender has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham, West Ham, and Newcastle all reportedly interested in signing him.

Mugabi has played a key role in Motherwell's success this season, and van Veen believes that he is one of the best young defenders in the country.

"Bevis is a top talent," van Veen said.

"He's still only 22, but he's already one of the best defenders in Scotland.

"He's got everything you need in a defender.

"He's strong, quick, and good in the air.

"I'm sure he'll go on to have a great career."
