Early Career

Alpay Özalan, born in Izmir, Turkey, on May 29, 1973, is a retired professional footballer. He began his career with local club Altay SK and quickly rose through the ranks to the senior team.

International stardom

In 1999, Özalan joined Fenerbahçe, where he became a key player in their 2000-01 Süper Lig title-winning campaign. His impressive performances earned him a place in the Turkish national team, where he made his debut in 2003.
